How to design your FolioBook

Please review the design choices below to make your choices for your cover design.

  1. Size: 25x25cm (10’’x10’’ square); 21x29cm (8’’x12’’ portrait)

  2. Cover Material & Color: cotton, cloth or silk

  3. Text: the text you would like on the cover (your names, wedding date, a quote etc). You can either have your own logo/illustration stamped on the book. I depends on the thickness of the lines and the intricacy of the details, send me the file and I’ll let you know it that’s something we can do.

  4. Text Color: the text will be debossed on the cover, you can choose between a color foil or blind deboss.

  5. Font: Select a font or email me any inspiration (or your wedding invitation proof as a PDF)

Cover Material & Color

Essential Cotton

These high quality 100% cotton covers have a natural, wide weave and a subtle, two-tone effect.

Pastel & Bold Fabric

Light, fresh pastel shades on rayon-based fabric made with close attention to conserving natural resources.
With the same eco-credentials as Pastel Fabric, these bold rayon-based covers let you make a statement.

Heritage Cotton

A 100% cotton fabric with a tactile open weave in four natural, two-toned colours. Perfect if you’re looking for a more rustic, neutral finish.

Silk

The natural beauty of silk has been coveted for thousands of years.
Silk covers are available in a variety of vibrant colours that shimmer under the light.

Text Color

Blind Debossing
A traditional methods to imprint letters into the cover without ink or foil. It’s an elegant, tactile finish.

Laser engraving
A highly accurate laser removes the material’s top layer to reveal its natural hues beneath.

Cover printing
A modern look to print directly onto most of materials in either black or white ink.

Foil blocking / embossing
A really eye-catching finish. Foil blocking is the process of stamping a brass type into the fabric at great pressure and temperature leaving the letters permanently impressed into the surface of the cover.

Fonts

* For debossing and foil blocking, you can choose from Bebas, Prata or Coronation (similar to Century Gothic).
Helvetica is also available for blind debossing.

For printing, engraving and 22 carat gold, you have an even wider choice.

Using non-standard fonts is not a problem. But please be aware that certain fonts work best on different cover materials, I can guide you through to make sure you get the best finish.

The Design Process

Step 1 :

Decide if you would prefer the fine art book in either

25x25cm (10’’x10’’ square)
21x29cm (8’’x12’’ portrait)

Step 2 :

You submit your favorite images using your proofing gallery (there is a love heart symbol to select favorites) OR let me do the initial design based off my favorites of the day – curious to know which my favorites are? They are the ones included in the slideshow. If you are having a hard time making a selection, even send me your top 30 must haves and I can take care of the rest of the selection. Once I get the go ahead to start the design, I will design a first draft and upload it online for you to review.

Step 3 :

You view the draft and are welcome to request any design changes. We can go back & forth on the draft 3 times making changes. After 3 rounds of changes there will be an additional fee of €100 per set. (but I’ve never had to charge this as everything always looks great after 1-2 changes).

Step 4 :

Approval –  once all approved, I send you through a final draft to sign off on – you review and sign off on it to say it’s ready for print. I’ll send an invoice at this point as well if the album is not part of a package.
Once I get the sign-off back and the payment is received, I order the album.

Step 5 :

The book takes about 3/4 weeks to make – all hand made, it will then be shipped directly to you. I will update you with the tracking number once it’s on its way to you.

TIPS FOR SELECTING IMAGES

My biggest advice is don’t overthink things when it comes to image selection. Your first instincts are probably right. The photographs you loved most the first time you saw your photos are a good place to start. If you are curious to know which are my favorites of the day – they appear in the highlights folder.

Although it’s important to have an overall sense of narrative, when illustrating the story of your wedding day, don’t feel like you need to include every single event/moment/person. Group photographs are mostly for family history purposes. You don’t need every single combination we took on the day in the book. One nice photograph of the whole family–perhaps on each side is all you really need. We like to be able to show who came out and celebrated you two tying the knot. Years later, you’ll want to know who was there.
